Patch Theatre, Australia’s only national theatre company dedicated to making theatre for four to eight year old children, is a company defined by innovation, collaboration and wonder. The company has presented 105 theatre productions to more than 1.7 million children around Australia and internationally, including the US, Canada, Singapore, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong and New Zealand. Each year Patch Theatre performs to 50,000 -  70,000 children and their families.

A bright future for our children, and therefore our country, lies in their ability to be creative, to lead change, be empathetic and imagine worlds beyond this one. Theatre offers children the opportunity to develop these qualities, and therefore, must be an integral part of children’s lives. While there is a lot of theatre made for this audience, it is rarely made with the rigour, insight, care and inventiveness that underpins Patch Theatre’s dynamic approach and reach.

“If a child is to keep alive their inborn sense of wonder, they need the companionship of at least one adult who can share it, rediscovering with them the joy, excitement and mystery of the world we live in.”
Rachel Carson
