Patch Satellite

Patch Satellite is a commitment to bring the children we perform to into the process of developing our work.

Born of a desire to collaborate with our audiences and develop a more connected model of touring, Patch Satellite takes the creative team of a new production to one of our touring locations for a creative in-classroom residency. The director, designers, actors and composers work directly with the students to create, research and develop the show, posing to the children the same artistic provocations we give ourselves in our devising process. The ideas, observations and insight are woven back into the production. A Patch Satellite extends to a dedicated Teacher Professional Development workshop with local teachers, connection with education and performing arts students with interest in theatre for young audiences.

By putting the children we perform to at the centre of our process, we gain deep insight into their imaginations and connections. Working directly with children inspires our practice to be relevant, engaging, connected and meaningful.

Patch Satellite schools and kindergartens connect with the ongoing development of the show by skyping into the rehearsal room, continuing their relationship with the artists and the art making. The cast then reconnect with the students when the show arrives on tour.

Patch Satellites are in collaboration with our dedicated presenters in each area.
