The Lighthouse visits Taiwan

July 29th, 2025

Patch Theatre proudly presented our Ruby award winning show The Lighthouse to audiences in Taiwan thanks to funding from Creative Australia.

Presented at the stunning National Taichung Theatre from 5-13 July, the season was completely sold out before the opening performance! The Lighthouse, an immersive promenade performance, is part installation, part scientific quest, part rave. With themes of wonder, imagination and connection, the show resonated deeply with local families and provided a hands-on experience exploring the elusive yet fundamental force of nature that is light.

Enormous thanks to our wonderful crew and creatives who mounted the show for the first time since the pandemic! Our season was made even more memorable by a typhoon that required us to reschedule several performances! Through it all, our brilliant team brought grace, talent and heart to the stage.

Huge congratulations go to our performers Zoë Barry, Vincent Crowley and local performers Chuan-ying Li, Fei-tsue Luo, Ting-yi Chen and Wei-chih Shen, as well as the hardworking local crew and the National Taichung Theatre presenters who supported the production so generously.

Outside the theatre, the team took the opportunity to explore local markets, admire the architecture of the theatre and connect with Taiwanese culture. This tour allowed us to engage in a rich cultural exchange and a chance to share stories with audiences who we normally wouldn’t have a chance to reach.

We're grateful to have had this opportunity to connect with new audiences and return The Lighthouse to the stage. Thank you, Taichung, for welcoming us with such enthusiasm!
