Fifteen years is a long time...

Long enough to start families, see the world, have multiple different haircuts, and grow into entirely different people. And yet, when Nathan O'Keefe and Astrid Pill walk back onto the stage together this August, those fifteen years will simply fall away.

Despite its many iterations, Me & My Shadow has always been their show — not just as performers, but as co-creators. Alongside directors Dave Brown, Roz Hervey and Geoff Cobham, composer Zoë Barry and creator Bob Weatherly, Nathan and Astrid helped build the world of the show from the ground up through a deeply collaborative, playful and experimental creative process. The process involved three directors with very different skill sets and two performers given the freedom to discover through play. The result was something genuinely original.

But August 2026 marks something even more special. It will be the first time Nathan and Astrid have performed the show together since its premiere season in 2011, and the first time Astrid has performed it at all since then. They return as parents, with more life experience and, by their own admission, a deeper and stronger friendship than the one that made the show in the first place.

"I find I have less contact with friends," Astrid reflects, "but my strength of friendship is stronger." It's a sentiment that speaks directly to the heart of the show, and Nathan was quick to point out the connection. When Astrid admitted she still gets a little anxious meeting new friends, Nathan laughed, "That's exactly what your character goes through in Me & My Shadow."

The world changes, but what great art speaks to shouldn't. As Nathan puts it, "As long as the core messages and the foundations it is built on remain the same, when you revisit a show a decade and a half later it should be delivered slightly differently because the world is slightly different."

And the joy of reuniting? Nathan puts it simply, "I genuinely cannot wait to get on the stage and try to make you laugh, play games and have fun together."

A new generation of children will experience Me & My Shadow for the very first time this season. As Astrid says, "It's a very beautiful show to look at." We think they're going to love it.
