As Patch Theatre wraps up a remarkable year, we're taking a look back on all the adventures we've had. From performing in local schools to huge entertainment venues across the globe, we've met people from an amazing range of cultures and made new friends far and wide.

Thank you to all of the incredible people who helped make this EPIC year happen. To our artists, crew, staff, board and supporters, we couldn't have done it without you!

Wonderverse hit the regions

Our amazing touring company took Wonderverse to regional SA visiting Port Pirie, Whyalla, Renmark and Mount Gambier. Throughout August, we visited 4 venues and performed 120 sessions to over 2,600 attendees from the regions, including 70 schools.

ZOOOM blasted off overseas

Thanks to funding from the National Foundation for Australia-China Relations, ZOOOM jetted off on an amazing Asian adventure. Our tours to Shanghai, Taipei and Kaohsiung allowed us to connect with hundreds of children and families whom we would never have had an opportunity to otherwise meet, and we met an incredible milestone performing the show for the 250th time!

Throughout the year, ZOOOM travelled to Singapore, Shanghai, Taiwan and Saudi Arabia and performed to over 12,500 people.

Glow & Tell hit the big time

Our in-school program SPARK had a massive year smashing out 310 performances to over 6,300 students!

We introduced new storyteller Ayden Martin to our Glow & Tell team, and Edgell Junior and Evyenia created new stories about their families and culture.

We joined in with DreamBIG, running performances of Glow & Tell and also putting on student workshops and participating in panel talks.

In October, we headed to the Riverland where over 8 days we performed 51 sessions in 18 schools to over 1,000 students.

The Lighthouse made a comeback

Ruby Award winning The Lighthouse once again set sail as we performed the show for the first time since the pandemic. With the season sold out even before the first performance, families in Taiwan experienced our immersive installation in all its glory. A brilliant local cast and crew made the experience all the more special. We were even featured in Vogue Taiwan!

Superluminal made its mark

After our premiere season of Superluminal last year, it was the turn of Sydney and Brisbane to experience this amazing show. With seasons at Sydney Maritime Museum and Queensland Museum, more than 8,300 people experienced the installation over 424 sessions.

Sea of Light sailed away

Family favourite Sea of Light embarked on an adventure around the country. Starting at ILA in Adelaide in January, our voyage continued to Ardrossan, Canberra, Toowoomba and Brisbane throughout the year with over 12,200 children creating their own voyages of light.

Supporting the work that matters

Our experiences were made possible through the generous support of our funding partners: the South Australian Government through the Department for Education, and the Australian Government through Creative Australia, its principal arts investment and advisory body.

Thanks to support from the National Foundation for Australia–China Relations, a touring grant from Creative Australia and a touring grant from Create SA, we ventured throughout Asia as part of an exciting program to connect with new audiences and deepen cultural relations.

Country Arts and Create SA were invaluable supporters of our Regional SA tour of Wonderverse, the first time an installation work of this scale has been staged in these towns. Not only was the tour a huge hit but it marked a significant achievement for the company in terms of our goals of equity and access.

We’re also deeply grateful to our philanthropic supporters whose contributions helped us share the magic of theatre with young audiences. Their generosity is essential in helping us reach the many diverse communities we are privileged to perform in.

From everyone at Patch, thank you for your generous support which made it possible for us to produce, tour and show our work to children all over SA, Australia and the world.

We look forward to seeing you next year! 💙
