What is an in-theatre show?
Patch Theatre's in-theatre shows are performances which take place in a theatre setting. During Me & My Shadow, you will sit in a big theatre and watch performers on stage. You can let the performers know how much you are enjoying the performance by laughing and clapping.

What is the story of Me & My Shadow?
Me & My Shadow is a story about friendship. The characters have lots of adventures together and play with shadow and light all while getting to know each other, solving problems and discovering the trials and joys of friendship.
Where does Me & My Shadow take place?
Me & My Shadow will be performed in the Space Theatre at the Adelaide Festival Centre.

When will Me & My Shadow be performed?
Me & My Shadow will be performed in August 2026 / Term 3, Weeks 4-6.
Family performances will take place on Saturday 15, 22 and 29 August at 1.00pm and 4.00pm.
School performances will take place on Monday to Thursdays with two performances each day at 10.00am and 12.30pm. On Friday 14 August, there will be one performance at 10.00am.
How long does Me & My Shadow go for?
Me & My Shadow runs for 45 minutes. There is no interval.
What age is Me & My Shadow suitable for?
Me & My Shadow is recommended for children aged 4–8 / Preschool-Year 3.
What time should we arrive?
Please plan to arrive at the theatre 20 minutes prior to your performance time. Before the show starts you can visit the bathroom, buy a drink and meet the front-of-house team who will look after you during your visit.
What if I am running late?
Performances must start at the scheduled time and cannot be delayed, late attendees will miss the beginning of the performance and may not be admitted. The front-of-house team will assist with latecomer entry. We suggest that you check in with the front-of-house team 20 minutes prior to your performance time to prepare for the show.

Can we take videos and photos?
Yes, you can take videos or photos during the performance however please do not use flash.

Where do I sit?
Me & My Shadow is general admission which means you don't have allocated seats. The front-of-house team can be available to assist you with finding seats.
School groups will be seated together.
Is Me & My Shadow wheelchair accessible?
Yes, Me & My Shadow is wheelchair accessible. Check the Adelaide Festival Centre website for information, and the front-of-house team will assist you during your visit.
I am bringing someone with access requirements or sensory sensitivities. What should I know in advance?
We warmly welcome people with access needs or sensory sensitivities to our shows.
A Visual Story will be available in 2026 to help you understand the experience and what to expect during the performance.
Me & My Shadow features very little spoken language. We have embedded Auslan into the show to ensure d/Deaf people and Auslan users can have an equally enjoyable experience.
Here are some other good things to know:
there are no sudden or very loud sounds in the sound design or music
we recommend bringing earmuffs for children who may find noisy spaces over-stimulating
low level lighting is used throughout the show to create effects but there are no periods of total darkness
we take a relaxed approach to audience noise and movement, and children who need a break are welcome to exit and re-enter with guidance from the front-of-house team

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR SCHOOLS
What Education Materials can you provide?
We are developing an Education Resource and Visual Story for Me & My Shadow. We will send the materials to schools who make bookings once they are ready in 2026.
In the meantime, you can find some classroom activities related to the show on our website.
Can we bring bags to the performance?
Please leave backpacks and bags at school as the Adelaide Festival Centre does not permit them into the auditorium. Find out more on the Adelaide Festival Centre website.
Can you book transport for my group?
Unfortunately we are unable to book transport for you.
However we know transport services and costs can make it difficult to get your students to the theatre so here are a couple of ways to make travel easier for your school:
apply for free transport via Adelaide Metro
apply for a grant through Credit Union's Student Impact Program
if you are a regional or equity school, apply for transport subsidy thanks to Adelaide Festival Centre

South Australian regional and equity schools are invited to contact Adelaide Festival Centre centrED to apply for a transport subsidy should travel costs prohibit attendance at the Space Theatre season of Me & My Shadow. Please complete this booking form to register your interest with centrED who will contact you directly regarding your request.
